Self-Determination Camp was intended for those that have children who are considered Visually Impaired, Blind, DeafBlind, Low Vision, with or without light perception. However in 2025 we expanded this camp for all families who have children with academic, independent living, and social barriers. This is an event for all ages. Below you will find qualification to apply for aid.

How do I know if I qualify for Aid?

• Are your the Parent/Guardian of a child who is diagnosed with a Visual Impairment, Deaf-Blindness, or other medical or developmental challenge?
• Do you have a family size up to 5 Members or less?
• Have you been denied financial support from Vocational Programs, or other type of program?

If you answered yes to the following questions above you may benefit for applying for aid for full or partial amount for the Self-Determination Camp.

• How will I know that we have been chosen to receive aid?
  • All families who have been recipients of aid will be notified by the 15th month of June. Before a determination is given families who are currently enrolled in a vocational program, those funds must be exhausted first before any aid can be distributed.
• What happens if our family size is over 5 members?
  • This Aid only covers up to 5 members and may cover full or partial amounts for admission, lodging, and/or mileage. Any additional members will be accepted, but at the expense of the family applying for aid.
• What happens if we don’t answer the phone or email if we are chosen for aid?
  • Unfortunately, due to amount of application we are receiving for this camp aid is on a first come first serve basis. Each family will have until the 17th of June to respond to any calls or emails. If they do not respond by the 17th the aid will be given to the next recipient.
• How long does the response have to be for the question on the benefit of this camp for my family?
  • A minimum of 3-5 sentences will be suffice. One word answers will immediately disqualify you for aid. If you have additional questions please email the help desk at help@manifest-academy.com.
