Job Description: Certified Braille Transcriber

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Certified Braille Transcriber to assist with the transcription of educational materials, documents, and other content into Braille on an on-call basis. You will play a vital role in making information accessible to individuals who are visually impaired, helping to ensure they have the resources they need for success.

This position offers the flexibility to work on an as-needed basis, allowing you to choose projects that fit your schedule. You will work closely with our team to meet deadlines and ensure the accuracy and quality of Braille transcriptions. We are looking to hire Certified Braille Transcribers in San Antonio, TX, and the surrounding areas.

Responsibilities:

• Transcribe a variety of materials, including educational content, documents, and other written materials, into Braille.
• Ensure all transcriptions are accurate, clear, and meet the required standards for Braille formatting.
• Collaborate with the team to understand project requirements and deadlines.
• Submit completed transcriptions by the agreed-upon deadlines.
• Maintain communication with the team to stay updated on new projects and needs.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of all materials being transcribed.

Qualifications:

• Certification as a Braille Transcriber from a recognized institution (e.g., Library of Congress).
• Previous experience in Braille transcription, with a strong understanding of Braille formatting and standards.
• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Reliable transportation for attending meetings, if necessary.
• Flexibility to work on an on-call basis, with availability to take on projects as needed.
